With all the stress of the border crossing it was decided that a drink was in order, so we headed for the beaches of San Diego, to find a bar.
We then met up with Buzz's Sister in Law Colleen who lives in San Diego.
San Diego is a very pretty city. ( especially compared to LA) lots of nice beaches and cool restaurants etc and a spectacular harbor that is home to one of the USA's biggest naval fleets. The sky is filled with fighter jets screaming around and the bay full of Aircraft carriers.
Well hello there.
It also features a spectacular bridge that crosses the Harbour.
We had a great time looking around the city and its sights.
Thant night Colleen took us to Point Lomas for a delicious seafood dinner and a drink in one of the local bars. then back to our hotel.
Thanks for the cooks tour Colleen. Was nice to meet you. Would have been nice to spend more time with you. Next time.
Sam and I rose early and with little traffic spent a bit of time checking out some more of downtown SD, before heading up the coast.
Had a lovely brekky at La Jolla overlooking the beach and watching the jets and helicopters fly over. I loved it.
Then back on to the highway to battle the traffic and avoid the accidents.
Honestly some of these people drive like they just stepped on a fucking Lego or something. ( unfortunately we didn't go in, but after seeing some pics, am def keen next time)
Have no idea what this thing was.
Our time on the bike was drawing to a close.
Was sad to hand the little weestrom back, We decided that we would hire a car for our last few days and Sam was keen to get a mustang convertible. I wasn't that keen but eventually relented and a shiny red Mustang was arranged.
Sam thought she was so cool.
I thought she looked like a hairdresser.
I however looked like a boss.
We headed back to Our great Friends Marsh and Yvonne's party palace where Marsh and I set about fixing all the worlds and especially the USA's problems.
That night as thanks for all that this awesome couple had done for us we took them out to dinner at the spectacular Orange Hill restaurant.
Very fancy with a brilliant view over LA.
Was very nice of Disneyland to put on fire works for us as well.
We still had a couple of days to kill so we decided to head for Palm springs.
Not really sure why, but we did enjoy beer at the top of the Gondola ride up the Mountain.
We also had one of the best Spanish meals I have ever had. Would go back just for that.
Spent the rest of the night like dickheads cruising the streets with the top down and the wireless blaring old sixties american pop songs.
Made our way back to LA via the spectacular highway 4 and I decided I had unfinished business with that Fucking San Gabriel Canyon road, so took Sam back to the scene of the crime for a reenactment.
Was actually a bit disconcerting to go to whee it all could have ended so much more badly.
However all was forgotten when a dickhead in a Camaro when flying past making more noise than any Camaro was entitled to.
The race was on and I had a great time chasing him up the hill.
Prick wouldnt pull over to let me pass, so at the top I gave him a verbal Backhand that he totally didn't get and explained that he was never going to beat a rental. Seriously Americans would have to be some of the worst drivers I have seen anywhere in the world. Self centered fucks.
Squirrels also need to learn that the road is not a place for them. ( sorry Andre the squirrell)
The rest of the afternoon exploring the Hollywood and the surrounding hills and checking out how the Rich and Famous live. ( they live very well thankyou very much). Even found my mentor Dan Bilzerians house.
Went for a spin up the famous Mullholland drive, where several movies have been filmed.
+
We had dinner at hooters of Hollywood. ( cause hooters make me happy)
So do Cat woman and Batgirl.
Wonderwoman and friend not so much.
Visited the worlds lamest strip club. Seriously what sort of club doesn't have hard Liquor available. How are you supposed the make the slappers they have look good?
Got in trouble for taking pics, so decided to leave and check out this Science club. Very pushy scientists that wanted us to sign up for life membership.
Next morning we had donuts fro breakfast at the also famous Randys donuts. I thought it got blown up in Independence day, but nope its still there.
Then off to do a Segway Tour
Sam and I have become quite the Segway aficionados after first experiencing them in Barcelona a couple of years ago. Nothing beats the feeling of effortlessly gliding along as you take in the sights. Or perhaps we are just to lazy to walk. So anyway we came across a tour of Venice beach and couldn't resist.
Our tour guide.
Cant remember what his name was, so i just refer to him as Eddie Murphy.
Venice beach is a freak show
and the The views were spectacular
Apparently this woman is someone famous, but I have no idea who she is. She didn't like me taking pics of her. Stuck up bitch.
This guy did the voice overs for some famous movie. Now he spends his days sitting on the pachio of his Venice beachside apartment with his dog.
Medical help was never far away
Had a great time on the segways and can highly recommend if you ever get the chance. Its a great way to cover a lot of ground rather than walking and a lot of fun.
Called into the awesome Del Amo motorsports Bike shop for a look. I could go here here fro my holidays.
I can see a couple of these in our future.
SAm Likes em too.
Called into a local 4wd shop, so I could claim the trip as a tax deduction.....( What???.... you would too if you could.)
F650 Perfect for that commute to work.
The last thing to do before our our flight home was to check out the Majestic Queen Mary. Now a cheesy tourist attraction/hotel at Long beach.
While it was cheesy it was pretty cool to spend a couple of hours checking it out and having a drink and watching the sun set.
And then it was all over.
Nice Japanese Dinner at LAX and bugger me if after spending most of our Holiday stalking him you wouldn't believe who we came across at the airport.
Yep the man himself Toby Price. You couldn't make this shit up. He was totally cool with Sam drooling all over him and I must admit I also have a man crush on him.
We had a very nice chat with him, then it was onto the plane.
As I write Toby is about to set off to try and win the Dakar again. We wish him well. A nicer bloke you will never meet.
A couple of Mogadon and I was out for the duration of the flight. Woke up Brisbane thinking it had all been a dream.
Had the best time even with the scary setback early in the trip. Mexico was awesome. Don't believe all the shit you hear. The people are among the friendliest we have ever met. Always smiling and singing. The food is just amazing and the price of drinks will see me back there for sure at some stage.
Finally a massive thanks to our dear Friends Marsh & Yvonne, who's hospitality and help after the crash with Insurance/banking details etc in LA was simply awesome.
Thanks Guys we really appreciated it.
As always if you enjoyed reading please consider clicking on the link and making a small donation to the charities listed. Over the years I have been writing this junk we have raised a few hundred bucks, so massive thank to those that have chipped.
To the rest of you don't be tight asses. Every cent goes to the charity you choose.
