Normally couldn't be bothered to post up details of day rides, but went out with Dom on Saturday for what was supposed to be a gentle run.
Ended up covering over 700 klm through the granite belt region near my home town is Stanthorpe. Day started bright and early at 5:30 am to try and escape the heat. Need'nt of bothered as it has been raining for what seems like 150 years and the temp was very agreeable. Had a great lunch at the Ballendean tavern then headed of down the brilliant Haligans lane which is where the attached pics were taken.
A spring had formed due to the recent rains and had begun bubbling up through the road. Looked just like a bit of wet sand but as as soon as I entered it, I literally sunk in the quicksand.
Dom & I couldn't budge the bike. We tried to dig it out but it would refill as quick as we could dig. We tried hooking up Dom's bike with a tow strap but it just snapped. Fortunately a group of local boys turned up and it took the six of us over an hour to dig it out.
Didn't get home till after 9:30 pm.
So much for a cruisy ride.
Thinking about heading of next week for a 4 or 5 day ride around Nth NSW. If anything exciting happens I'll post it up.
Hope everyone has a great Christmas.
